Additional Information
Beautiful Brown Colored Art (Artificial) Silk Woven Baluchari Sari. Pallu & Border Features Mythological & Human Pattern Embellished With White Woven Work. Center Part Of These Sari Has Brown Woven Work With Floral Pattern. What Is Special About This Saree? Baluchari:Murshidabad Of West Bengal Was The Centre For Silk Weaving And The Most Famous Product Was The Baluchari Sari. The Baluchari Sari Got Its Name From The Extinct Village Of Baluchari In Murshidabad, West Bengal. The Butidar Baluchari Sari Was Once A Prized Possession Of The Upper Class Bengal Because Of Its Ornamental Ground, Elaborate Borders, Fine Corner Figures And Unusual Anchal. The Weaving Of Baluchari Was An Elaborate And Complicated Process, Often Requiring A Number Of Helpers To The Main Loom. Up To 12 – 14 Naqshas Could Be Employed. Thus Once The Loom Was Set, Weavers Made A Number Of Articles, Up to 30 With Different Color Combinations Before Resetting. The Baluchari Sari Had Fine Twisted Silk Warp And Heavy Silk As Weft – Often In Contrasting Colors Like Red And Black, Yellow And Purple, Creating A Light And Shade Effect. In Spite Of Their Rich Compositions, Baluchari Almost Always Avoid Strong Contrasts, Each Pattern Being Treated In A Color Which Harmonizes With The Ground.
